But what if someone you know was the one who originally shared your email address with strangers? How do you track down that someone, especially if you subscribe to several newsletters? Fortunately, here's a very easy-to-use hack which will do the work for you.
As one Quora user, Unnit Metaliya [1] points out, adding a “+” after your Gmail address doesn't affect your original address and is treated the same as your original address. So, when you're subscribing to a new newsletter, just add a word after the '+' sign, like the newsletter's name. Now, when you receive a random email, check the 'to' part of the email, see if you can find the part of your address after the '+' part, and if you do, you'll know who shared your email address without permission.
